THE NATURE OF FEAR

What is fear all about? Fear can be defined as an unpleasant emotion caused by someone or a feeling of anxiety concerning the outcome of something. It can also mean the anticipation of something unpleasant, uninvited, or unwanted happening. It is negative emotions generated from negative expectations and contemplation and this is literally faith in the opposite direction or in the reverse. One of the reasons fear is unhealthy is that it causes a person to be in expectation or to exercise more confidence in the ability of the wicked one to prevail over the goodness of God.

Many people fail in life not necessarily because of their ignorance but many times because of the fear to take steps, arise, and do many things, yet the scripture said yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death; I will fear no evil. Meaning that whatsoever looks like death can cause fear, not even death itself but the shadow of it brings fear. Every time a person is surrounded by uncertainty, the shadow or similitude of death there should be courage not to fear not. Courage is not the issue of masculinity but the product of an understanding of certain things about God.

Every information that a person hears does something to their mind and if there is no power to resist or control it then it becomes fear. This means that the spirit of fear manipulates a person's understanding and his/her faculty of expression. For e.g., children do not easily have the fortitude to fear because of their understanding, they are not aware that even touching a broken electric cable can electrocute them, they are not knowledgeable that it can hurt them, so they move and touch it with confidence. This proves that the moment a person is aware of the potential of a thing to destroy or cause harm to them and they do not have the capacity or competence to dominate and restrain it, then it will create an unnecessary sense of caution; that is where fear comes from.

The awareness that the believer can sustain power over and against the works of darkness can abrogate, crush, and destroy fear. Fear has really destroyed uncountable people. God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, so it means fear is a spirit and if it is given then it can also be received or rejected.
